What are the Most Stolen Cars for 2009?

The 1995 Honda Civic is the number one stolen vehicle for 2009. Most of the vehicles that were stolen for 2009 have remained pretty consistent throughout the years. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reports that the 1991 Honda Accord comes in second place followed by the 1989 Toyota Camry. The NICB says that thieves tend to steal these older model vehicles because they provide a great market for stolen vehicle parts.

The NICB suggest having an approach to automotive theft protection through employing warning immobilizing, and tracking devices with a touch of common sense. The common sense means to use standard methods such as locking the doors and taking the keys.

The NICB study is based on information from the National Crime Information Center.

Here is the list of the top ten most stolen vehicles:
1. Honda Civic (1995)
2. Honda Accord (1991)
3. Toyota Camry (1989)
4. Ford F-150 (1997)
5. Chevrolet C/K 1500 (1994)
6. Acura Integra (1994)
7. Dodge Ram Pickup (2004)
8. Nissan Sentra (1994)
9. Toyota Pickup (1988)
10. Toyota Corolla (2007)

So dealers be careful when buying and selling these vehicles and be well aware that they are a hot commodity for thieves.
